While distances between bases of 60 feet are standard across varieties, the pitcher's plate ranges from 35 to 43 feet away from home plate, and the home run fence can be 220 to 300 feet away from home plate. The ball itself is typically 28 or 30 cm in circumference, also depending on specifics of the competition. Softball rules vary somewhat from those of baseball. Softball is a fun game for boys, girls, men and women of all ages from 3 to 73.
3 to 12 year olds hit the ball off a Tee (Teeball). Older kids hit a pitched ball.
All the games are played at the Surveyor’s Creek softball diamonds at Glenmore Park on Saturdays over summer. There are no games over the Xmas school holidays. The youngest kids games usually commence at 8.30 am and the adults play in the afternoons.
Our club holds all its training at our Lomatia Park, Springwood on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday evening.
